Title: A Study of Language Ecology and Language Policy in Pakistan
Abstract: From the perspectives of language ecology and language policy, this paper introduces the language situation of Pakistan, an important neighbor of China, and analyzes the characteristics of Pakistan’s language policy. Pakistan is a multi-ethnic and multilingual country. In terms of language policy, on the one hand, it strengthens national identity through language identity, on the other hand, the competition between Urdu and English has never stopped. Learning from Pakistan’s language policy, this paper proposes to vigorously promote the national language to enhance the Chinese identity and carry out more researches on Pakistan’s domestic language situation and language policy. Through “language bridging,” the further research will boost the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative.
