Title: Critical Thinking at the Metacognitive Level: Framework and Education Principles
Abstract: This paper, based on the literature review of theories of metacognition and critical thinking, constructs the theoretical framework of critical thinking at the metacognitive level (CTM). CTM consists of three components, namely, CTM knowledge, CTM skills, and CTM experiences. Each of the three components is further comprised of subcomponents. The three components interact with each other. BA and MA English students’ CTM education relies on the premises that students had the opportunity to think critically, that CTM components were used well, and that teachers possessed effective CTM teaching ability.
