Title: On the Supplement and Innovation of Contemporary African Literature to Foreign Literature Course
Abstract: Under the background of internationalization and globalization, the cultivation of foreign language talents with cultural understanding and communication skills has become more and more important. With the introduction of The Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, on the one hand, Sino African economic and trade exchanges have become more frequent and in-depth. On the other hand, cultural exchanges have witnessed a sharp contrast between the rise of contemporary African literature in the international literary arena and the absence of contemporary African literature in the foreign literature courses in China. This paper introduces two general characteristics of contemporary African literature: complexity and cosmopolitanism, describes the current situation of the curriculum of foreign literature, and expounds the supplementary and innovative significance of contemporary African literature to the curriculum of foreign literature.
