Title: A Study of Joseon Scholar Liang Zhihui’s Piaohailu in the 19th Century in the Jiangnan Region of China
Abstract: During the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were frequent incidents of Joseon people drifting from the Joseon peninsula to the Jiangnan region of China, and many drifting relics and documents still remain. Among them, in the twenty-third year of the Jiaqing of Renzong of the Qing dynasty (1818), a work appeared, which is of greatly literary value, the author is Liang Zhihui, a scholar in the later period of the Joseon dynasty. Due to its late discovery, Liang Zhihui’s Piaohailu has received little attention from the academic community, leaving considerable space for future research. Therefore, the author tries to make a comparison with Cui Pu’s Piaohailu when investigating Liang Zhihui’s Piaohailu. Firstly, this paper analyzes the reasoning behind the pubulication of these two books and the specific traces left behind by the authors in Jiangnan region, and the experiences of drifting at sea. Finally, the paper compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between the two records on the customs and habits of Jiangnan people.
