Title: Orientalism as a Method

Abstract: “Orientalism” in the modern sense began with the study of the East by western scholars. After joining the field of oriental studies, oriental scholars opened up a national vision different from that of the “Oriental Scholars” in the West. There are also subtle differences within orientalism in the West, and European Orientalism is not the same as the regional studies in the United States. In recent years, with the rise of Chinese Orientalism, the concept of building a harmonious world and a community of shared future for mankind has been proposed, adding a new discourse system to the world oriental studies. These interrelated dimensions in the history of the world Orientalism not only promote people’s understanding of Orientalism in the knowledge system, but also provide empirical materials for people’s understanding of the cognitive methods and thinking patterns of the East.
