Title: The Reform of Translation Courses for English Majors: An Ethical Study
Abstract: Based on the courses for English majors “Translation Theory and Skills” and “A History of Translation in China and the West”, this paper analyzes the teaching modes, practical methods, and core contents of the translation courses from the perspective of ethical education. It not only describes how to enlighten students on the essence of Chinese culture and master the strategies for promoting Chinese culture externally, but also explains how to cultivate students’ awareness of establishing Chinese discourse systems for global communication. It aims to build up the translation theories with Chinese characteristics and inspire the students’ professional dedication and responsibility, and to provide an example on how to integrate the language major curriculum with value-based education in an organic way for teaching and research in similar courses.
