Title: National Translation Research Capacity: Concept and Indicator System Construction

Abstract: National translation research capacity, as a component of national translation capacity, is significant to the construction of the conceptual system of national translation capacity. National translation research capacity refers to the ability of a country’s research team to discover, analyze and solve issues related to translation practice and translation cognition by using corresponding research methods with certain research resources. Based on this concept, an indicator system consisting of one primary index, five secondary indexes and fourteen tertiary indexes is initially constructed, and the current situation of China’s translation research capacity is analyzed according to this system, and finally four suggestions are given for improving China’s national translation research capacity.
