Title: A Research on Language Planning in Tajikistan
Abstract: Based on Robert Cooper’s language planning theory, this paper reviews the practice of language planning in Tajikistan from three aspects: status planning, corpus planning and acquisition planning. By summarizing the characteristics of language planning in Tajikistan, this research proves that its language planning has succeeded in ensuring the status of Tajik as the national language and of Russian as a communication tool among ethnic groups. Besides, it constantly promotes the learning and development of foreign languages, especially Chinese, after the “One Belt and One Road” initiative. The present study helps to understand the language situation in Tajikistan and sheds light on language planning in multi-ethnic countries.
