    Abstract: Professor Zhang Boran who was renowned in the fields of translation studies and lexicography, has attached great importance to talent cultivation during his nearly 50 years of dedicated teaching, research, and practice. The students cultivated by him are active in foreign language education and translation studies in China. This paper probes into his concept of talent cultivation, namely "equal emphasis on learning and thinking, knowing and doing, and mutual reference to patterns from home and abroad," along with his tenet of teaching in accordance with students' aptitude with no social distinction, to provide reference for talent cultivation in translation studies in China.
